*Job Description:

The Deveney Communication Summer Scholar Program is a unique full-time position offered to a chosen individual each summer semester. Participants hone integrated marketing skills alongside award-winning professionals at one of the top five boutique public relations firms in the nation. Students will sharpen communication skills, complete various communication projects and network for future opportunities.Responsibilities:
There is no “typical day” at Deveney. The Summer Scholar will be immersed in client projects, assisting the client leads with daily tasks. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

-Building media lists
-Developing pitches and press releases
-Interacting with client contacts and attending meetings
-Researching market trends
-Attending and facilitating events
-Pitching stories to the media
-Writing copy for the Deveney and client websites
-Conducting industry and client research
-Designing presentations

*Qualifications:

Undergraduate candidates are eligible if they have completed their sophomore year in college and possess a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Recent graduates and graduate students are also eligible to apply.Applicants should have majored in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, Marketing or another relevant subject area. In addition, each candidate should be innovative, organized and enthusiastic, as well as possess relevant skills including: extensive writing and editing ability, capable oral communication skills, critical thinking and be able to work as part of a team.
