Are we ready? And, if not, what are we doing to get ready?
Every day every media platform tells us about “climate change.” A team of determined Ole Miss students is being assembled to get real answers to real challenges and relate their findings – specific to Mississippi – with depth and precision. It won’t be easy, but the end product will be a valuable public resource.
The research and reporting will be done in Spring and Fall semesters working out of the School of Journalism and New Media. There are no academic prerequisites, and all majors are welcome to apply, but especially sought are people with a passion for the topic who also have skills as writers, photographers, videographers, graphic artists, social media managers, web designers or data researchers.

The course for Spring will be listed as JOUR 361 – Journalism Explorations. The scheduled meeting time will be Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m.-2:15 p.m. in Farley 126, but applicants must be flexible, willing to travel as part of the project.
Those selected will be asked to confirm their commitment, then administratively enrolled for three credit hours in Spring that can be repeated for three more credit hours in Fall. Course faculty are Associate Professor Charles Mitchell and Instructional Assistant Professor John Baker, who are both experienced journalists.
Applications are due by Oct. 31, and students will be notified by Thanksgiving break.
