Pulitzer Panel 3-22-2016Overby Fellow Curtis Wilkie, left, led a lively discussion by the sons of two Mississippi editors, Hodding Carter II of Greenville and Ira Harkey of Pascagoula, who won Pulitzers for plainspoken opposition to state government actions they believed to be unjust and unjustifiable. The sons, from left, Circuit Judge Dale Harkey and Hodding Carter III, also discussed another state honoree, Hazel Brannon Smith of Lexington, in the second of a series of panels being conducted by the Mississippi Humanities Council on the 100th anniversary of the first Pulitzers. With the group are University of Mississippi Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter and Stuart Rockoff, director of the Mississippi Humanities Council. The next panel will be at Millsaps in Jackson.
