Paul Ingrassia, deputy editor in chief of Reuters News, outlined his recent work at the Overby Center for Southern Journalism and Politics on Aug. 24. Ingrassia, then with the Wall Street Journal, shared a Pulitzer for beat reporting on the U.S. auto industry’s downfall, bailout and recovery. He advised journalists to work their beats, listening to people directly involved in making decisions as well as those who must deal with the consequences of those decisons.
