Chinese University of Political Science and Law
Luther Zhang, a lecturer at the School of Journalism Chinese University of Political Science and Law, arrived at the hotel at 8 am on Wednesday, and we reached the university a little before 9 am. We met with Dean Song and the faculty from 9 to 10 am and then attended an interview session with students before lunch. Then we attended a fine class about the Internet. The entire class was conducted in English.
I gave a lecture on journalism and journalism education. We then talked with students and met vice chancellor Ma before a wonderful, traditional dinner. We were back at the hotel before 9 pm in time to pack for the flight the next day, Thursday.
In the morning I answered e-mail and packed before going to the airport for our return flight to the U.S.
On this trip I:
- learned more about many recent developments in China.
- met old friends and alumni, and discussed the possibility of several important partnerships in the heart of China.
- visited sites that I had visited in earlier years.
- promoted Ole Miss as hard as I could; the School of Journalism and New Media has many new friends. It even may have several students from China in the near future.
